About

One workshop. One pair of hands.

Jay's Auto Trim is a small, owner-operated auto upholstery workshop on Red Hills Road in Massey. Jay does the quoting, the stripping, the stitching and the final fit — every car, every time.

The story

Built on word of mouth.

Most of our work comes from referrals — friends, family, and the next driver to spot a sagging headliner in someone else's car park. That's how we'd rather grow it. Every job that leaves the workshop is one Jay would happily put his name on.

The tagline on the door says "Do It Once, Do It Right". That's not a marketing line — it's the principle the whole shop is run on. If a headliner needs new foam, we don't re-glue old foam. If a door card backing is broken, we don't paper over it. We do the harder, slower fix the first time.

The workshop

European, JDM, classic, daily.

Audis, BMWs and Range Rovers come through the doors weekly — those cars have large roof panels and the factory adhesive doesn't last in NZ summers. We've also done full interiors on classic Holdens, Japanese imports and modified builds. If it has a roof and a seat, we can re-trim it.

The workshop is set up for upholstery — not a cluttered general garage. Materials are stocked, tools are sharpened, and the workbenches are kept clean enough that you can hand a customer a coffee while we look over their car.

Why customers come back

Three things we keep getting told.

01

Honest pricing

Most quotes are firm. No "while we're in there" surprises at the end. If we find something extra, we ring and ask before doing it.

02

Fast turnaround

Most headliner jobs are same-day. Drop in the morning, pick up in the afternoon. Larger jobs are scheduled honestly so you know what you're getting.

03

Finish that lasts

New foam, new fabric, the right adhesive — not a quick re-stick. The job that leaves the shop should still look right in five years.

"Jay is one of the most authentic, down to earth people you'll ever meet, and his passion for upholstery truly shines through the moment you see him work. The care, attention to detail, and pride he puts into every step really shows how much he loves what he does. I especially recommend him to women who may feel unsure walking into a male dominated industry. You will feel safe, respected and completely at ease with Jay."

About the workshop.

Yes. Jay is the workshop. Every job is quoted, started and finished by him personally — no rotating staff, no jobs handed to apprentices to learn on.

Jay has been doing auto upholstery for years and runs the Red Hills Road workshop in Massey, Auckland. The 4.9★ rating from 55+ reviews has been built one customer at a time.

Yes. If a headliner sags, a seam comes apart or trim doesn't sit right — bring it back. The fix is on us. We're a small workshop and word of mouth is the only marketing that matters.
